Setup cod.m ZigBee Coordinator (CZC) with Home Assistant#

Install the cod.m ZigBee Coordinator as described in the Instructions and establish a connection to the local network.

Automatic detection#

cod.m ZigBee Coordinator Autodicover

Since Home Assistant version 2024.7.0, Home Assistant will find the cod.m ZigBee Coordinator automatically. Upon detection and subsequent confirmation, everything is installed automatically. No manual configuration necessary, you can proceed directly to pair the devices.

Manual installation#

Installation Integration#

Add the integration ‘Zigbee Home Automation’ under the item ‘Devices & Services’ in the settings by searching for ‘zha’.

Add integration cod.m ZigBee Coordinator

Configuration#

Select 'ZNP' for Texas Instruments CC2652 Z-Stack ZNP in the following dialogue.

Select radio type for cod.m ZigBee Coordinator

For the serial device path, use the address of the network coordinator with socket:// in front. Nothing needs to be set for data flow control.

Serial interface settings

IPV4#

socket://xx.xx.xx.xx:6638
Of course, replace xx.xx.xx.xx with the corresponding real IP address of the coordinator.

Hostname#

As every local router typically also makes a host entry when DHCP is assigned, you can of course also use the host name of the local domain. This saves, for example, the DHCP address reservation or the allocation of a fixed IP.

socket://czc-XXXX.fritz.box:6638

Alternatively via zeroconf

socket://czc-XXXX.local:6638

Info

Each cod.m ZigBee Coordinator has a unique host name. The XXXX is therefore different for each coordinator.

Completion#

Loading the integration may take a few minutes the first time it is started. Any errors when starting the integration can be viewed in the log under Settings > System > Logs.

Once the configuration is complete, the cod.m ZigBee Coordinator is available and devices can be paired.

Details on ZigBee integration in Home Assistant (zha) can be found in the official documentation: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha/.

Device Pairing#

Click on 'Configure' under 'Settings > Devices & services > ZigBee Home Automation'.

Configure Home Assistant ZHA

Then click on 'Add device' at the bottom right to switch on pairing for the coordinator - recognisable by the yellow LED lighting up.

Add Home Assistant ZHA device

Accordingly, put the device you want to pair into pairing mode and pair it. Devices found are displayed directly and can be added.
